Collection: Suara Disko

Suara Disko started back in January 2015, with a mission of promoting Indonesian music to the country’s subculture movement. A group of friends initiated the idea to start a dance party with an all-Indonesian pop/disco music, and later they gathered two DJ/record collectors: Aat & Merdi, who agreed to select and play the music at the party. Back then several clubs in Jakarta even forbade Indonesian songs from being played in their premises, to the extreme of threatening to ban DJs who dare to play Indonesian music in their performances. Shortly after the first Suara Disko party, many places in Jakarta started to add Indonesian tunes to their playlist as well as their resident DJs.
